The most memorable moment I wanna share in this post is the first time I moved to Jakarta last year.
With a limited cash (Lebaran train ticket drained my 'college student's pocket') and accompanied with no one, I brought two cases one backpack all by myself.
Comparing to my friends accompanied with their parents or brothers the first time they went to Jakarta and stayed at hotel for several days, honestly I kinda felt pity to myself but hey, my sister was hospitalized at that time so I wouldn't whine to mom and force her to accompany me instead, right?
but lucky me I had my best friend here. She taught me to take commuterline or shuttlebus, taught me about do and don'ts applied here, and (of course) she took me to places I've never been before.
I stayed at her room for about two days (that is not that far from my workplace) then I learned about being Jakartans means I have to take a walk a lot. like, A LOT until my legs hurt.
But what I most concerned about living in Jakarta is the food.
No, not the one I get in mall or restaurants I am talking about, but rather than meal sold in food stall like warteg or pedagang kaki lima.
Its just freakishly pricey comparing to the taste I got and raw material they cook.
For me, it is just tasteless and make me miss all the food in Surabaya :(
And another thing I should take note is when I was asked about level of spiciness by waitress while ordering meal, do not answered 'medium' if I expected medium-spicy like I always had in Surabaya. I think medium-level here is another way to say 'mild' in Surabaya.
I don't know if is it just me or is there anyone else who feel the same way? lol
